Weighted products, including lap pads, have proven useful as a calming tool for individuals with sensory issues, ADD, ADHD, autism, hyperactivity, etc. Due to their compact size, Lap Pads in particular, are a popular therapy tool used at school, in the car, at the dentist, at the dinner table, etc., to help calm and focus.
Occupational Therapists and current research recommends lap pads be a maximum weight of 5% of the clients total body weight, as the weight is concentrated on the upper legs. However it is also suggested that no more than two pounds of weight be applied with any client, and even less with preschoolers or kindergardeners.
The exclusive patent pending design of this lap pad is preferred and recommended by the professional community. It is made with multiple fabric layers, the top layer being "no seam" which often distracts the user. The bottom layer of fleece to keep the lap pad in place.
